Therapy is a relationship that works in part because of clearly defined rights and responsibilities held by both the client and the therapist. This understanding helps to create the safety to take risks and the support to become empowered to change. As a client in psychotherapy, you have certain rights that are important for you to know about because this is your therapy and the main goal is your well being. There are also certain limitations to those rights that you should be aware of. Also, l incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques tailored to your needs and goals. Intern Status: As part of this informed consent, it is important that I communicate to you my license status. I am a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (MFTI) Intern. A MFT Intern is a pre-licensed therapist who is in the process of completing a Masters Degree Program, completed a practicum period, and is working on completing the 3000 hours required for licensure in the state of California.
